Aimed at unbridling the potential of young intellectuals to come & showcase their talents and taste the flavor
of high edged competition the two day annual event ‘ELECTRA 2k17’ of UPES kick
started here on Friday 31st March.
“The students today should focus on enhancing their skills
not only in the academic domain but communication, knowledge building and work
as well. There is a need for all to inculcate purity & timeliness in their
work” Dr. Kamal Bansal said.

Also, when they were not busy
showcasing their technical know-how, the students made sure to have some
entertainment at the informal stage event- Da Vinci Code, a perfect combination
of fun & knowledge.
The second day saw engaging events
like Bid n Build and Energion where the students presented a prototype of a
multipurpose charger using the concept of turbocharging. The participants were
judged on the basis of feasibility, reliability, cost-effectiveness, structure
and presentation skills. Energy Sabha provided a platform to students to
express their views and knowledge on different Power Generation Plants across
the country.
Another event “ Faulty Yantra – A
needle in a stack of hay” attracted huge number of participants to identify and
rectify faults in electrical & electronic equipments of daily use.
The
festival with an aim to bring together
prominent scientific minds along with renowned technologists and connecting
them to the students and faculty across the country comprised
of seven events & technical workshops focusing on technical expertise &
fun and frolic events as well.
With an
atmosphere of enthusiasm and curiosity the opening ceremony, held on Friday
March 17, was graced by Mr. Amit Ranjan Executive Engineer, UJVNL Dehradun as
the Chief Guest, Dr. Kamal Bansal DEAN CoES UPES, Dr. Pankaj Sharma Associate
Dean CoES , Prof. N.B. Soni Head Elecrical Power & Energy Dept. & Dr.
S. Chaudhary Head Electronics Dept. UPES. The
words of appreciation and encouragement
on innovation in technology by the Chief
Guest set the stage nicely for the days to follow.
With over 300 participants, the
first day of the fest, 31st March turned out exactly as it was
promised. The enthralling workshops by Dr. Isaac R & Mr. R.M. Reddy,
further complemented by the engaging competitions comprising many quizzes &
debates were indeed the perfect recipe for a tech extravaganza.
Keeping in with our vision to
create awareness about energy conservation and efficiency, the students
showcased their artistic and technical talent with a presentation in the event Prezentum-
Green Energy & Green Campus. Another technical event Technocraft aimed at engineering
models by the students, was enjoyed by them & technical experts as well.
The students presented innovative self-designed and working models of Rash
Driving Monitoring System, Hospital management system, Electric Hybrid Vehicle
with improved efficiency, Solar Tree and many more.
The winners were awarded cash
prizes, gift vouchers & goodies.
Finally, the fest concluded with a Valedictory
Speech by Mr. Amarnath Bose, and distribution of prizes to the winners.
